I was in Sainsburys today and saw socks with 90% off so i bought some. When i paid for them they gave me another 25% off the price so they really gave me 15% to take them out the shop

That is essentially the point I was making, mathematics is indeed a collective noun and cannot be pluralised, math as you point out is an abreviation of mathematics and thus in need of an apostrophe to indicate so, math's also as an abreviation of a collective cannot be pluralised and therefore the apostrophe is not used to indicate this hence my question.
