Can I cook tinned hotdogs in the microwave?

I have to provide food for 15 kids and 5 adults tonight and last week we have pizza shop, this week I haven't got time to wait in the pizza shop and we only have a microwave on hand - do you think hotdogs will be ok? and can I cook them in the microwave?:confused:

  • you can but they tend to xplode so do it on a lower heat than 100%

  • I just had mine and they were done in the microwave. Don't Zzzap em in the Tin though will you. Put em in a plastic jug or on a plate
  • Yes, but you have to cut small slit in the skin before putting them in the microwave, so they won't explode.

    Make sure you cook them in the liquid as well, this will help stop them exploding too!!!

    So, if I empty them into a microwaveable bowl and add the brine (liquid) and cover with clingfilm - will that be ok?

    Gonna get some fruit for them to munch afterwards too!

    Tell me about it!! I exploded some Herta Frankfurters last week. Put them on for 5mins on full power and when i came back........

  • If you cover them in cling film I think you must leave a vent for the steam to escape.
