advice on a course provider

Hi all, new to the system so will need as much info and help as possible.
Over 2 years ago i signed up to do a part-time plumbing course at 'Met Uk'. I have paid a staggering £7100 for this course, paying £197.00 to barclays finance every month for 36 months. Under the companies terms and conditions, I had 2 weeks to cancel should I change my mind. I decided to cancel and wrote them a letter. I did not hear a thing from met uk until the day of the course should start when they asked me where I was and why I have not attended. I told them that I had wrote in a letter. Met Uk was having none of this and still said that I have to pay the full amount of the course! However, after threatening the manager with consumer rights etc, she stated that I could carryout a course within 18 months. I have enrolled on the last 2 plumbing courses and these have been CANCELLED by MET UK as they have had un-sufficient numbers attend! I now feel like i puppet to them, as ive paid my money but still they have not delivered a service to me! I would rather have my money back now. Also, my work have now designed a new rota for me that starts at the end of March that WOULD HAVE fitted in with a course that should have started this month buthas been cancelled as stated earlier. I since wrote and spoken to Barclays Finance and asked them for a copy of my agreement, they have told me that THEY CAN NOT FIND MY COPY OF AGREEMENT!!! What should i do next? Should I cancel my dd with them? Should I contact a solicitor? Im paying over 7k out for nothing. Need your advice desperately. Thanks. Lewis

Hi guys thanks for viewing, I have this morning contacted consumer direct and they told me to contact barclays again. Barclays have opened up a case, and they will get hold of met uk to organise me a course. Other than that, not much else. I would rather just have me money back but I know that this wont happen as theres no proof that i sent out the letter!
Does anyone still think that I would have acase if I was to contact a solicitor?0 -
If you can't prove you sent and they received the letter, then you don't have a leg to stand on.
However, as they have now cancelled TWO courses that you agreed to attend, then I would perhaps insist that they have 3 months to give you a new course, otherwise you want a refund.
Don't stop paying the DD!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
