Question for the techies here who run a mobile service in their area - what do you charge and is it per job or hour? Just wondering what a fair price is.

Do you mean fixing mobile phones?
If so, it's commonly done on a job basis, rather than hourly rate - e.g. if you wanted a fascia change, you may be charged £15 per say.
What are you looking to get done? Obviously different jobs cost different amounts. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

It could be a car service or boiler service or swimming pool service or plenty of other things.
We can all guess and suggest prices or maybe the OP will revise what was posted into something specific.0 -

It really depends on competition in the area, for example in my area, well established company charge about £65, well the smaller company's charge about £30 / £35 because they need to get the customers away from the big boys, once there on your books and if you do a good enough jobs, there yours. Most ICT business charged fixed prices these days, but if people argue with the price, i happily give them a choice of paying by the hour, thats often works out more expensive
(all prices are not including parts)
Also you whatever you charge you will always get somebody who wants a better deal, you just have to be firm with them, a lot of people will not think of the overheads that you have to pay as well like fuel costs and insurance, as well the cost of tools and telephone lines ect, Also its a good idea to set up a little work shop at home, as a fair amount of people do like just dropping it off on there way to work and picking up back up on there way home cas then they dont have to have days off, if people drop it off i normally give them a little discount for saving me the fuel costs ect
Also parts, make sure you take payment for parts in full before buying them, the amount of people who says go ahead, then change there mind about it , i got caught out and learnt my lesson from it, because to give the cheapest price you have to order form special website, and if u return it your gonna lose money in the postage and returning it0 -
Charge per hour £24 call out and £24 per 30 mins
Most jobs are done within 30 mins so £48 - All prices inc VAT
We don't do viruses on site they are instructed machine needs to come in to the workshop for the like as they take too long to do onsite.
We don't do many call outs to the public its mostly to companies. Call outs to the public only tend to be to setup a new computer or Intenet connectivity issues everything else generally comes to the workshop to get done.0 -
Sorry, yes, computers and laptops. Was a bit surprised that a chap I called out to remove a virus decided to do a re-install on site - was here for ages, mostly just waiting for task to finish.
Thanks for the replies.0
