Gas £150 p/m ????

So we have moved into a 3 year old house. Just worked out the gas bill using actual readings and it comes in at £150 per month. House details are, ground floor has lounge and dining room with 2 rads, hall,wc, kitchen with wet underfloor heating. First floor has 4 beds and 4 baths all with rads, loft has been done( not converted as it was built this way, so well insulated etc) with 2 rads. Boiler is gloworm 38cxi.
Our last house was slightly smaller and only £45pm.

I know it was cold over winter but still is this not a bit much?

Are you using the correct unit to kWh conversion, the imperial conversion will almost triple your figure. You should use meter units x 1.02264 x cal value / 3.6 = kWh

How many meter units have you used ? although that amount is quite possible.

Thats an awful lot of rads and a big house.. I pay £45 pm in a tiny 2 bed house.. it doesn't sound too over the top considering how big it is.. sorry I was just observing I can't really base that on anything concrete..

Do you know how much insulation there is under the UFH in the kitchen.

If it is an amateur job with none then you are keeping the worms happy.

Yes, there is insulation under it, looks same as loft insulation, and does seem to work.

In that period I have used 13000 kWh, you have used 21000. I am considered an above average user for my 3 bed detatched with 15 rads. I think you need to look seriously at your room temps.

got the rad thermostats between 2 and 3, timer thermostat programmer thing set at 20.5 0530-2300 (someone in everyday)

The thermostat seems a bit on the high side to me and we live in a cold area. The most ours is set to is 18 sometimes for a warm up. During the day we keep it low about 15-16. Not sure about keeping the heating on all the time even if someone is in all day. They won't freeze. Hope this helps.:)

Our thermostat is set to 18 daytime and 16 at night We have a 4 bedroom terraced house We had a new condensing boiler installed 3 years ago, use gas for hob and have 11 radiators all with thermostatic valves and our monthly DD is £28 (we have just had gas bill in for period dec 2nd to march 3rd actual readings and it was £104. Was amazed as I thought heating was on a lot more this winter especially dec. Do you have a metric or imperial meter? Scrap that just read previous posters threads!!
I take my readings weekly and log them on imeasure - this allows you to see on a weekly basis what you use Maybe worth trying on current temps for a week then you could reduce thermostat temperature and see if it makes a significant difference in usage. I know it may be a bit out as no 2 weeks are identical weather wise but may help
