    There usually need to be pressing reasons for a one off, unless it's pretty close to the amount owed. Usually we'd be talking very low income, possibility of losing job / income in the near future, health implications.

    The annoying thing is there is every chance they'd sell the debt on at less than 1/3rd, but not to you!

    Just to mention, I didn't have any pressing reason for a one-off ... my iva provider suggested it to me and luckily my parents were willing to help me out. I didn't get asked anything else. And yes, I offered around a third and it was accepted - offered £10k for £28,200 of debt.
    Just completed my one-time IVA :D
