Say you are interested and ask for their contact details as you won't continue the conversation as you need this for you records, once you have this tell then you are registered with the TPS and will be reporting them for harassment.

I've had similar but it's been a recorded message. Who is supposedly "my bank" and they're going to help me pay off all my "debts".
Funnily enough, I have no debt. Very skinted but have no debt!

The best thing to do is list every company that calls you, keep them talking by pretending to be intrested and make sure you get a Company name and the person whom called if poss, then advise them that you are not interested and state to them kindly remove my personal data and add me to a do not contact list, try to keep a record if poss.

As and when they phone again as in most cases these firms do, track down the actual company via google and draft a letter with the following details.

    Dear Sir's

Despite my previous request for suppression of my personal data with your company joe bloggs ltd, you have failed to act as per my request not to contact myself.

I now wish to inform you that I will be carrying out the following actions against your company joe bloggs ltd.

1: Report you to the TPS
2: Report you to the ICO
3: Report you to the FOS
4: Look to make a Small Court Claim, against the following.

Seeking damages under section 13 of the 1998 Data Protection Act, for breaching section 10 & 11.

All of the above actions will prove both costly and time consuming for yourselves.

You can of course stop these actions by reimbursing me for my time spent dealing with your company and the cost of my phone calls.

I will now give you seven working days from 00/00/0000 to attempt to rectify this matter failiure to comply will result in me per-suing the above actions.

    Signed

Most company's will be worried about you doing this and will offer you a payment to cover your calls and time.

My suggested amount is £10.00 per hour and your phone call cost's, allways state you used your mobile.

I have done the above actions numerous occasions and it does work and in most of the cases was offered a gesture of goodwill, this inturn normaly puts a complete stop to them calling you as they dont want to pay you twice.

Just to add the section 10 & 11 of the Data protection Act needs to be verified so if you can record the phone call that details your instructions for them not to call you and they fail and call again this is enough for a Court Claim and the ICO to investigate.

I get them day in and day out, I never answer them, I just press the reject call button. I applied for a loan a long time ago and its ever since then I have been recieving the calls.

I've not received any of these.......have you upset someone, and they have filled in inquiries in your name?
Once knew someone (feller) who received loads of mail order catalogues because they had upset someone.....and no.....I wasn't the receipient or sender.
