Post office homephone. Not recived £50 cashback

Hi
I signed up for the post office home phone in March. I have still not received the £50 cashback.
I got my last bill at the end of August and I hadn't been given £25 cashback, so I phoned them. Nothing they could do but they would take it off my next bill. Got my next bill this morning still no cashback. So I phoned them and spoke to a supervisor. They can take the £50 off my next bill. I asked if they could send me an amended bill for this quarter with the £50 off. The sytem won't allow them. (The computer says NO!!!!!). They can't credit this months account with the £50 either. Where do I go from here. Do I wait for my next bill for the same thing to happen.
Nikki

Welcome to the MSE forums nicoja.

I'd take the hint if I were you. As soon as you've got/used up that £50, move your line rental back to BT.

The Post Office line rental may be £1.05/month cheaper than BT but, when you add £1.75 for caller display (virtually free with BT Privacy), they're actually 70p/month more expensive.

I know the £50 was a good 'loss leader' but their evening and weekend UK 01/02 call costs are terrible (1p/minute compared to BT's 5.5p for up to an hour or free calls of up to 90 minutes on Primus Daver Option 2) and, although their 2.4p/minute weekday rate is 0.6p cheaper than BT's, it's equally bad when compared with 18185's 4p connection and 0p/minute.

In the meantime, click on the 'HERE' link in my signature below and plan how you'll save even more on your calls.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Once you get the credit your have to stay with them to use it up or waste it.

The credit does get used up on the line rental.

Although Heinz has pointed out the negatives there are a couple of small positives to the Post Office home phone service: per second billing with no minimum call charge and no additional call set-up charge for NGN calls as with BT.

These can make it worth some people staying with them.

Yes but to use up the credit on line rental you should have already had and used , you would have stay with them longer.

Whilst their per second billing is good for short peak geographical calls.
https://www.18185.co.uk would be better in most cases just 4p a call, plus why pay for your evening and weekend geographical calls when you can get them free with primus saver.
  • I didn't get a phone bill for the first two quarters - money just automatically came out of my account. Contacted them about not having a bill but no response! But this month I received a bill and the quarter's £25 has been taken off. As I've now got my £50 back, I'm gonna switch back to BT. Post Office service seems shocking!

Anyone know whether BT will charge me to switch back? Should I wait a bit to see if they try to lure me back with an offer?
