Dear all, I have a gmail address which I have had for absolutely years, it is just firstnamelastname@gmail.com. (eg fredbassett@gmail.com) I first had a problem with it when someone gave out the same names but followed by googlemail.com to people presumably without registering it first. Obviously the googlemail version also comes to me so I had fun and games emailing her and her correspondents to sort it out. Now I've started receiving emails which are the same first name with the letter e (presumably their middle name) then last name (eg fredebassett@gmail.com). They're nothing to do with me and are obviously about work from and to companies in the US. I keep sending them back, as well as forwarding to the correct address but still they come.
Is this likely to be a known problem with gmail? I've never heard of it. I could understand if someone mistyped but looking at the email papertrail I can see people have done a straight reply. What worries me is that they might also get mine!!!!
If this is a known glitch I'll just have to change my email address though I don't want to as i was the original and lots of people know it. I would email google but can't imagine I would get any sort of response. Are there any options you can think of?
Thanks
DS

If the other person has configured their (e) email account in an email client they may have set the reply-to address to (firstnamelastname@) instead of firstnameElastname@ so any email they send will have a reply to address which is yours.0

Some nifty things can be done with gmail addresses but I don't think this is one of them. The extra 'e' should relate to a completely account.
Anyway, it's not really your problem. fredebasset should be concerned about losing mail. Provided you have informed them I would set up a filter to skip the inbox and delete it. It will go into bin.0
