Car Insurance for Artists

I can't understand why so many companies can refuse to insure me! I am an opera singer...a VERY mild race of performers. How can we possibly be lumped in with rock bands, etc and why?
Surely this is discrimination and illegal? Any thoughts/suggestions?

Discrimination doesn't apply in insurance - if it did everyone would pay the same rate - think about it....
Would you be happy if a 17yr old boy racer paid the same amount to insure his/her car as you because if they were charged any extra they could cry discrimination?
Unfortunately your occupation is deemed a higher risk to insurers than say the average office worker because you are in the 'public domain' and insurers reserve the right not to insure you/apply a load they see fit. Best thing to do is obtain as many quotes as possible through online brokers and insurers and take the best one offered.0 -
For a fair hearing over your car insurance try Music Assure on 0800 107 4815.They are part of Towergate who are a large firm of specialist insurance brokers.0
