Heating worries in our new house
We have a baby on the way (month away), and im concerned about the heating costs involved with keeping the house warm throughout the day/night. The house is gas central heated, we operate this on the timer via a thermostat. This comes on for a few hours in the morning (7-10am, afternoon (1pm-3pm), and evening (6-9pm).
To keep costs down, im considering buying a couple 'oil filled radiators', as background heating through the night.
My question is, would it be more cost-effective to keep these running on 'economy mode', or to ditch this idea and just increase the times the central heating is switched on?
Hope this made sense

Buy yourself a room thermometer, you will be surprised how cold the recommended temperature is for a baby.
As you've got a room stat, I would set it to the recommended temperature overnight rather than go out and have the initial layout for the oil filled radiators.0 -
I would make sure that the babys room (and the rest of the house really) is as insulated as you can get it, eg door curtains, draft excluders etc. You will be suprised how much heat is retained in your home with the right kind of insulation.
I think you would find the cost of buying and then running oil filled radiators would be more expensive than having the heating on an hour or two extra.:)Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
