Internet Banking Credit Card Payment Returned

Hi,
I've got an unusual one.
On the 9th February, I made an Internet Banking payment to my credit card of £271.10.
Yesterday, I received my credit card bill, and found that the money had been received, but was then returned on the 24th February.
I contacted my bank and they told me that they have no record of the payment ever being made. I only have one account so its impossible that I got the accounts mixed up.
Now my credit card company is putting a mark on my credit report, and charging me £12 for not paying my bill.
My bank are telling me there is nothing they can do as they have no record of the payment. They told me that I didnt press Confirm on the payment page, even though my credit card company received the payment originally.
I believe there was a technical fault with internet banking, and the payment got sent out of someone elses account and when the bank discovered this, they reversed the payment.
But I cant prove anything, and now i'm left with both companies saying they cant do anything, a mark on my credit report, and £12 out of pocket. Plus the lost time.
Any ideas what i should do now?
Frustrated....

Your bank has a complaints procedure. Use it.
But first, gather some evidence. Ask the credit card provider where the original payment was from, and get a reply in writing.0
