Hey guys - you may have seen me posting in some other threads about my ESA. I'm due to go for a medical today however I just rang up to cancel it because I have great news that I've managed to get a job suitable to my condition.
The person on the phone was pretty rude and told me alls they can suggest is that I don't turn up and they send me a letter that I have to send back explaining why. That's OK, don't understand the rudeness though.
Now, do I just ring the ESA people to explain to them about my job too and will they cancel it straight away (payment due tomorrow)? It's no bother either way, just not really sure what happens now?

Benefits are paid in arrears so you are probably entitled to tomorrows payment, call the ESA dep't to inform them you are starting work and want to cancel your claim, i would expect them to send a declaration out for you to sign.
As you are coming off a disability benefit you may be entitled to the disability premium of working tax credits if working 16 hours or more depending on length of claim and current circumstances in the household.
Good luck and wish you well.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

If income based ESA Once claim has stopped you should automatically receive a job grant of £100 (single) or £250 (part of a couple/single parent) dependant on circumstances.
Ask your JCP adviser about the return to work credit which is a £40 pw tax free payment for up to 52 weeks for disabled persons going back to work but see link for criteria
