Bank account closed down WITH money in it?!

Ok so I've been with Santander for years but have had a savings account with Lloyds, I've recently moved and now live actually next door to Llyods whereas my nearest Santander is up town a 20 minute journey on the bus and a £3.80 fare! So logic thing was to swith my current account to Lloyds!
So did it last month and it was compleated on the 4th March - they transferred all my standing orders/direct debits and were meant to move any money left in my Santander account as well but they haven't? And I can't get it out of my Santander account cause it's closed!!! I can't remember the exact amount that was in there but it was about £50 which was meant to last me till payday on the 18th and now I have nothin
What do I do??

Are you sure they actually *closed* the account?
Do you have online banking with Santander that you can log into and check and/or transfer the balance?0 -
I tried loging on this morning and it says online banking not available and when I go to the cashpoint I can put my pin number in but then the balance is 0.00 and overdraft is 0.000

Have you actually asked them ?
It might be it takes a few days to transfer the money (yes I know it SHOULD be instant !) or even they've sent a cheque which is in transit.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Have you tried phoning them? I'm sure other people have said that Santander transfer any outstanding funds to a suspense account before refunding it.0

I switched to Lloyds in January and my closing balance from Nationwide went to my new Lloyds account via BACS (3 working days) so should arrive in your account on Wednesday I guess.
They did warn me to have enough money in both accounts until the transfer was completed.0 -
Santander send out cheques for closing balances, which normally takes 10 days from when the closure was actioned, so you'll probably get a cheque within the next few daysDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Agreed, I got a cheque for £0.01 when I closed my final account with them (and yes, that was my closing balance
) You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
