Hey all
My nan has just bought her first laptop and has got online at the grand old age of 79
She wants to do a basic IT course but the one at the local library (BBC First Click one) is oversubscribed and the list is about a year long. There is another course she could do but it's a 40 min drive away and she doesn't like to drive that far.
Can anyone recommend an online one that could be useful?
Thanks

A problem with online courses is that one needs some basic skills to operate them.

Thanks both, I'll look at these.
She has some basic skills as she has managed to message me on Facebook :rotfl: My cousins set the account up for her but she logged in and sent the message on her own. And has been practising her typing using Word.

Sadly incomplete I'm afraid, my local Age Concern does IT course and is not listed [Hampshire] despite telling Winchester HQ we do them
Maybe just us, but worth looking for local Age Concerns and ask
OH, and we are still Age Concern, which may be just why not listedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Age Concerns are numerous independent charities. Many, but not all, were affiliated to Age Concern England which has now merged into Age UK. So as Farway suggests it is worth also checking local Age Concerns as they may not have a relationship with Age UK.0

That is so brave. Everyone should be able to use a computer today. It is the modern way of communication and research. I didn't start until I was 60, and it has been a godsend. My world has been opened so much.
What I was told was to take it in easy steps. Start with WORD, then move on to the net, just reading things.
Bit by bit you become used to it. I know it is so frightening at the start but your nan seems to taken to it like duck to water.
Is there a local college nearby. They do some wonderful short courses, some of them geared for the first time user.0
