The other sellers also have a minimum price they will drop to otherwise they will stay put and think they will ride out the storm. Do you have to sell?0

It's complicated but no we don't have to sell, his mother on the other hand is desperate to get out of where she lives and has sold her place and wants to move in with us. That could/would work providing we can find somewhere big enough to accommodate us all at the right price.
Worse case scenario she'll have to rent but we'll never here the bloody end of it tbh.0 -
I was feeling downbeat when I posted on this thread a couple of days ago, but I'm starting to think that in fact the market is starting to wake up again - we've been on the market since May last year, but we've had a handful of viewings in the last few weeks, and an offer (although not a very good one). We started looking seriously about buying last week, and a couple of the houses we viewed then have since sold. So my gut feeling is not to get panicked into selling too cheap, do your research and make your own mind up about the appropriate price. Prices might not go up, but at least in this area I don't think they are going into freefall just yet.0

I'm starting to think the exact opposite. All the news the last couple of days about cuts has been very disheartening. So many different cuts in our wages and even higher pension contributions when we pay a fortune already.
I can only see house prices going down at this point and where before I was happy with this I am now starting to think even if they do go down I still wont be able to afford after this batch of cuts.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

have a look at the tom (time on market) in your area using this http://www.home.co.uk/guides/time_on_market_report.htm?location=ch4&all=1
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
