Decided to close the account, i think waiting a year for £25 is quite a long time to be bombarded with spam daily.

    Hi Everyone,

I signed up a couple of days ago and was just looking to find a bit more info on payments, such as how often you will receive them and how much they are likely to be.

From reading through the posts it seems that a lot of people are missing the point of the website. The first step of signing up involves opting-out of phone, email, and postal spam (meaning that you will stop receiving it), you can then add your preferences to opt-in for marketing that is relevant to you. That means that you will receive LESS spam than you did before, and the spam that you do receive will be 'useful spam' as it will only be things that are relevant to you.

I have no idea if this is a worthwhile site (only time will tell!), but I think that it would make sense for people to leave the accounts active and just keep checking every now and again to see what happens. If you start receiving payments then it's a bonus, if not then you haven't lost anything.

Right, I'm off to search for answers to my questions. Will let you know if I find anything.
  • Hi, to clarify, we normally ask companies to contact us first so we can verify they are genuinely from the company in question and authorised to answer questions. As we’ve done this the post can stand. MSE doesn’t endorse anything a company says on the forum.

    Thanks,

    MSE Rose

I have serious suspicions about this. The address used to register the domain appears to be a council/run down semi in Luton, the contact number a PAYG mobile phone. This site is the self penned site of the 'man' behind it: http://www.basini.com/

It looks like a pattern of posting has been used on MSE to help promote it - not uncommon for this kind of 'thing' {picking my words with care to appease the MSE team who have warned my not to use certain phrases when things smell bad}. However, despite being run from where it is, and with said PAYG phone used in the registration details MSE Rose seems to be saying they are 'verified' in some way - so make your own mind up.

A similar scheme 'mailpay' also made similar promises a while ago - but I don't see people flocking here to say how they have gotten rich signing up to receive spam and junk mail.
  • I'm not going to sign up for this, as I hate spam that's even relevant to me.

But I would have to add that a detatched semi in Luton and a PAYG mobile number don't really mean anything. This is the Internet.
