What should I do?

I had a young student account with Lloyds since I was 11. I dont know if they do them or not, but it was automatically changed into a current account as soon as I turned 18. After I got a job, and was getting £1000+ income every month, I applied for overdraft. After I had my first baby, I splashed out on the essentials and used the overdraft. Anyway, the overdraft went from £1000 to £3000 with my consent. The more I was given, the more I used, not going over my limit.

Last year I couldn't access my account via online banking because of network problems wth the ISP so I phoned telephone banking, only to find that my account balance was £15000CR!

I called my branch straight away, who told me that a cheque was put into my account a day or two before. I was confused as I was not expecting anyone putting money in, let alone that amount. I started quering the transaction and was told that they had no further details. I was then told tat I would be called back with other info.

Anyway, I was called back from the branch that the money was paid into and was told that it was a dodgy cheque(!)

Anyway, they sent me the cheque in case I recognised the writiing or the name etc. I didnt. It was a business account cheque.

A few months down the line it happened again, and I informed them that I have a large aunt of money which I dont expect to be there. They told me again that it was another cheque.

Anyway, a few days later I went to pick some money out from an ATM, and the machne took my card. So I went inside and asked what had happened.

I was told that my account has been closed because of 'illegal activities'.

I made an appointment with the manager who said that although my account balance was £700 overdrawn, and I still have a little more than £2800, I cannot have access to that cash. And my account would be closed as soon as the remaining £700 was paid off. But what I couldn't get through to them that it was myself in both occassions who informed them of large amount of money in my account - otherwise I doubt that they would have been able to tell. But they wouldn't listen.

It has been a year since And I am putting money in, but the charges crop up again, and I still owe them £700. And the account is still open.

I have incurred £1220 of overdraft interest, £795 of overdraft access and £445 for unpaid direct debit.

Which one of these can I claim back and what else can I do?

Please help.

Thanks

    Hi
You can definately claim the Overdraft Excess, and the Unpaid DD.
The Overdraft Interest is not as straightforward to claim, I'm sure you can claim a part of it but not all. Hopefully someone else will be along who is more clued up on this part than me.
