Hi,
Its been nearly 3 years since i was declared BR and was discharged after 12 month.
So after cleaning up my CF soon after discharge i thought i would apply for a Vanquis card simply to get some green ticks on my CF.....and have no other intention than using a small amount on the card each month and paying of the balance on the date due.
I know it is possible for a ex br to get these high apr cards to rebuild there credit file but when i applied on there website i didnt get an instant decision but a message saying they would need more info and be intouch within 10-14 days.
Just wondered if this is the norm or have i been refused?
Anyone else got one of these cards and if so did you need to supply Vanquis with more info or did you get a instant decision?
Thanks

This is perfectly normal for people who have had difficulties in the past. Only those who are squeeky clean get the instant yes, but it doesn't mean you'll be declined if your application is referred for further checks.
I believe your credit file is only updated weekly, sometimes monthly, so they may have already viewed this, it just may not be showing your end yet.
I checked my file and it's only showing that they searched today even though they have already contacted me last week for further info
From reading some other posts on here they only have a small team of advisors who are under a heavy workload.
I applied via the post after receiving an invitation to apply. They made contact with me after 7 days and i'm still awaiting a final decision.
Good luck!Over 12 months with no late payments! That's like really good for me! :A0 -
I got a Vanquis card, the only extra info they wanted from me was that they rang me on my landline and mobile basically to check who I was. I confirmed a few questions about status and employment and income etc. They then confirmed tome on the phone. I would give it a while longer they will be in touch. Have you checked your phone you may have missed a call.0

For me I received a call on my mobile which I missed and the following day I received a text asking me to reply with how long I have been at my address.Over 12 months with no late payments! That's like really good for me! :A0

I applied for one today and also got the, we'll be in touch in 10-14 days. I have a capital one credit card which I have had for about a year now, so i'll be baffled if I get rejected from vanquis.
Hope they dont ring my home phone when im at work though, that would be silly of them as i stated on my application that I work full time
Good luck with your application!0 -

I'm sure they'll get in touch with you somehow. I supplied a work landline, however, they made initial contact by my mobile which I missed. They then asked me to confirm info via text the following day.

Got the same first response as you 10-14 days (monday) They tried ringing me twice the next day but they kept hanging up for some reason, i was probably too slow to answer.
They then rang the next evening (wednesday) to confirm details such as name, address, phone numbers, employer, and salary. Then confirmed that my application had been accepted. They try very very hard to sell you some kind of protection plan, so be aware of that, I just said no about 4-5 times before they got the idea.
They then ask you if you want a cash advance, I said no again. Then finally they say that they will send you a welcome pack and pin number in the next 7days i think followed by the card. Oh yeah and they tell you your limit, mine was £500 (not bad) and I dont have the best score in the world over the last 6 years. Though the last few years have been clean.
Good luck in your application, hope that helps.0 -

I too was accepted today aswell...
I was soo annoyed about this protection plan the lady was soo pushy in the end i told her if you ask me one more time than i am going to ask you to cancel my application!
Its one of those things because of that she was rushing through and did not even tell me what my limit is!0 -

The funny thing is when you get your card, you have to phone them to activate it, whats the betting they will try and sell you the same stuff again
Im still waiting for my pin and card.0
