EBay Dilemma - Does she let them know or not?

My daughter got scammed on Ebay and received a full refund via Paypal a few days ago.

Ebay have sent her an e-voucher saying they were very sorry about her purchase.

Dilemma - the refund and e-voucher are for the same thing and same amount. Can she spend the voucher and keep the Paypal refund?

What would you advise please?:(

The voucher is usually a good will gesture on top of the refund. Refunds are virtually guaranteed now with virtually everyone using paypal, so ebay must be aware that your daughter was covered.

They took it back saying sorry we made a mistake

Think it's a disgusting way to handle the situation.

So what was the point of your origial point given that you felt you were entitled to both and wanted to keep them?

What did you want them to do instead?

At least you're no longer faced with a dilemma :)

It was the nature of them taking it back that was not nice - no personal contact. Why would you want her refund cancelled as well when she'd bought something in good faith and is covered via Paypal protection. Are you always that nasty?

Perhaps people from ebay read MSE? In which case, next time, keep schtum...

Then you better put me down as one as well then - I completely agree with pendulum's hope that the 'double' refund gets spotted and cancelled. It's great that individual's occasionally get what they are entitled to AND a gesture from a company. It's lousy that those lucky recipients still have the brass nuts to call the resolution "disgusting".

Pendulum's post implies that he hopes the original refund is cancelled too, ie both the refund and the voucher are cancelled.

My goodness there are some horrible, heartless people who use this board.

To the OP, I am afraid that's the type of company ebay/paypal are. If they make a mistake they sort it out straight away, if anyone else make a mistake they drag there feet and you have to jump through hoops to get it sorted.
