Golf or new Focus
DH and I have test driven both of these over the weekend, 1.6 deisel and we really liked them both, financially there isn't a lot in it ,(PCP purchase), tried reading the various reviews on line and am just going round in circles and more confused than ever!
Anyone got any constructive advice to help us decide?

I own a MK6 Golf. Its very nice to drive, quiet and everything feels well screwed together. The Golf will hold its value better than a Focus and personally in my view the Golf is a bit more upmarket.
If there isn't much of a price difference I would probably go for the Golf in your position.0 -
Given the problems I have had re: my new ford focus I would buy a golf.0

I assume as you are looking at diesels you are high mileage users? If so a PCP will be expensive to take into account of the high miles as depreciation will be high.
I suggest saving your PCP payments for 6 months then buy a pre reg/ex demo Focus - you'll save at least 30%.
You may have to wait 3-6 months for a Golf anyway due to the way VAG operate.0 -
Golf. No choice.0

i ama middle aged female and i have had golf's for over 10years, cannot beat them (plus no-one can beat me driving-oops not supposed to say that!) they are so nippy
am sadly selling mine (2L tdi) to my brother and just bought a vw touran, feels like a bloomin' bus compared to the golf:(:(:(:(
no more ducking and diving for me!!GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

If I was paying cash -- discounted Focus, every time (although I'd never pay £10-15K on a car in the first place, and would probably buy Japanese anyway).
If it's a lease -- well then in truth the Golf is a nicer car.0 -
My mum's Mk6 1.6 Tdi (90 bhp) regularly tops 65 mpg! Hard to beat!!0
