New Car Insurance Rules / Sorn A Taxed Car??

Hi,
I know the new law now applies so cars must be insured at all times unless 'sorned'.
However, can I sorn a car with a current tax disk or must I surrender and then re-buy a tax disk?
My situation is:
I have a new car so I have changed my insurance over to it so I can drive it around.
My old car now has no insurance. It does have 5mths of tax left on it though.
Now, after hearing that I can no longer keep it uninsured what do I do?
I am planning on selling it but what if it takes 4 weeks to sell?
Can I 'sorn' the car so I don't need to have it insured (it's parked off the road)? If I do this will I have to send the tax disk back and loose out by having to buy a new one when I sell it/use it again or can I sorn it for as long as it takes to sell, keep the current disk, then just un-sorn when needed?
Thanks!!

Am not sure of what law you are referring to, as far as I know you can legally be without insurance and the car does not need to be sorned as long as its off the road ie not parked on a public highway of any description.
Maybe am barking up the wrong tree here .0 -

New law starts april this year, only way to be uninsured is to sorn the vehicle off road, fixed penalty of £100.... see here
