Paying for Howden's kitchen up front?

Got an estimate for a kitchen with a view to it getting delivered next week - they are looking for the cash up front. I don't mind doing this but should I be asking for an invoice and pay by cheque and wait for a receipt? Just looking to cover myself as it's a lot of money.

Cheers

G

Do you have an account with Howdens?, its usual for account holders to be invoiced the month following delivery...If you don't have an account how did you get the quote as they are supposed to be Trade only..

Then your tradesmens account will, as previously said, allow him at least a months grace before he has to pay it! Seems unfair to me especially as he must be taking his cut of the discount.

It depends what his credit limit is. If his credit limit is £3k and the kitchen is £4k, then there is a problem and they may well ask for payment or at least part payment up front.

Some tradesmen will have cash only accounts. It's not obligatory to have a credit account!
