We need to change an old floor standing boiler with a nice new combi, change all the rads but keep the sizing the same. Add TRV's and move the boiler nearer to the services.
I will remove all old piping and tanks from site.
We have been quoted on a Valiant 831 EcoTec £4800 not inc VAT!
Seems very very expensive to me, even for north Cambridge!
Any ideas?
Thanks

Good evening: how many new rads? Does quote include a powerflush, magnetic filter, pipe lagging, programmable roomstat? Type of flueing? New gas supply?
How does this quote compare to the others you have had? RGI recommended to you by a source you trust?

So basically you are having a complete new ch system fitted?
Sounds very reasonable to me.0 -
Hi,
8 new rads I have priced these up to just over £400, Valiant boiler just under 1K, Magnetic filter, Standard flue, TRV's to rads but the rads are the same size just being replaced by brand new ones.
Yes moving gas supply nearer to where boiler will be housed + all new pipes into boiler.
Awaiting other quotes.0 -

The boiler is good - I install Vaillant 831's whenever I can. For peace of mind though, get a like for like quote from at least 2 other registered engineers to see if the quote you've got is competitive. £4800 does sound a high figure, but it's difficult to tell without seeing it first hand. Suggest you go to the Gas Safe or Vaillant website, for engineers in your area.0 -
