Natwest Credit Zone

Doubtful

Does anyone know if you can file a claim for overdraft charges when they have been charged by Natwest to customers who use their Credit Zone? I set up credit zone with them years ago and pay a lower rate of charges on my overdraft, but also pay a fee to benefit from this. I am doubtful I will be able to claim back any fees, but if anyone knows differently I would be grateful for any advice.

If you mean an Advantage Gold Fee no you can't claim it, it is not a penalty charge. It is a fee for a service.0

I don't have an Advantage Card Plus, wouldn't take one out because of the high fee they charge for it. I have a standard current account and about 10 or more years ago took out what was then called the "Credit Zone". My overdraft limit has been increased over the years to 3,000 although I've never gone anywhere near that amount my account would sometimes go overdrawn towards the middle of the month. My husband gets paid weekly and all of our outgoings tend to be at the end and beginning of the month. It's classed by Natwest as authorised borrowing, hence the lower rate of interest for using it.0

You mentioned you pay a fee to benefit from the lower rates? What do you pay?
If you have gone over your overdraft limit and have been charged for unarranged borrowing fees or referral fees, then you can claim whatever the account.
I guess I'm not really sure what you're asking. If it's if you can get your fees back for the lower interest rate, then no.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0 -

I got all my fees and interest back that I paid for my advantage gold bank account with Nat West0 -
I have just found a stack of old bank statements from when I had this 'credit zone' account and I am going to apply for my charges to be repaid.
Did you get any further with your query ?0 -

This post is from 12 years ago, before even the bank charges court case in 2009. You have no chance of getting these fees back unless the bank is feeling generous - you paid a fee for a lower interest rate and benefited from that. Perhaps they could offer to refund the fees and you pay the extra interest rates that you'd have had to get and see who owes who more?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
