Redundancy and local Government/Public Sector Employment

I'm being made redundant from a LA. Does anyone know how long before I can be a) re-employed by a LA (not necessarily the same one) without losing any redundancy payment b) are there any restrictions on joining another public sector body and losing rights to redundancy money?

Thanks.

As you may be aware its covered by the continuity of employment orders (or something similar, you can google it). Technically its 28 days. But your employer has to ask you. Don't volunteer this information as it could cost you a sizeable lump sum. On the hand the benefits are continuity of employment and less messing around with the local gov pension scheme.

    Ours says this:

Where an employeehas been issued with notice of termination of their employment but before their redundancy date they receive an offer of employment from another employer covered by the Redundancy Payments (Modifications) Order and commence work within 4 weeks of the redundancy date, the employee will lose their enititlement to a redundancy payment and will be required to repay the amount if already paid to them.

The list of bodies on the order is here but basically it looks like all public sector bodies.

I think that means that you can apply for a job and possibly even get offered one, but can't start within 4 weeks of your redundancy date - is that how others interpret it too?

And I am not allowed to work at my LA that I'm being made redundant from, for a year. I assume that's from the date of redundancy.

This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know if you can claim jobseekers if you are made redundant from a part tme job? I currently work 15 hours per week. Thanks
