Need help sending a long tube parcel

Hi all
I have to post a tube to Belfast from Hampshire, UK. The trouble is the tube is 4 metres long but only 130mm (about 5") in diameter. I cannot find a parcel delivery service that will take anything over 3m, unless I have an account and am able to commit to regular postings (I'm not, and cannot open a new account just for one parcel!). Does anyone know a delivery company that will take one-off oversize items like this? I had one quote for £340 to do this but the contents are only worth £80 and cannot be sourced in Ireland, hence the need to post. Any helpful replies will be enormously appreciated. I've tried using search engines to find them but I'm unable to get any sensible results!:(
Please help

Hello Granny Sue
Thank you for your reply. I have just checked both those companies: Unfortunately Parcelforce only carry up to 1.4m, and Parcel2Go simply said they were unable to help with that size.
The common limit seems to be up to 3 metres with most of the carriers, unless one has an account! So I'm still looking for a carrier to take a 4m tube to Belfast, at a reasonable rate0 -
Although the online booking systems for parcel companies will say it is too big it may be that if you phone them with the details they will be able to quote. I have used Pharos in the past (though it was not as big as your parcel)

who were helpful. Give them a try and then work your way through some of the companies in the cheap parcels thread.
Good luck!0 -
The problem is that most parcel companies collect and deliver in Transit sized vans so just cannot accommodate that sort of length.
The only way I have ever got around it is by using a business I am friendly with who send a lot of freight and getting them to send it for me as the level of their business gives them a bit of "clout" with the delivery firms.0 -
Your might have some luck if you were to put a job on shiply http://www.shiply.com/0

Just remember Belfast is in Northern Ireland so part of the UK. Will RM not take it?0

You could look up Belfast haulage companies on yell.com and see if any of their trucks returning to base may be able to find a spot on the back for your package.0
