Maintenance grants/loans

Am new to all this but have just been wondering about maintenance loans etc.
DD is about to start uni in Sept, and will apply for a loan for living costs. For her 1st yr she plans to live on campus, and therefore will qualify for a higher amount as she isn't living at home.
But for her second yr she is thinking about staying with a relative who lives near the Uni. Now I know if she lives at hom she is entitled to one amount, adn if she lives away from home she's entitled to a higher amount correct??? but what happens if she lives with the rellie? does she qualify for the higher or lower loan?
She will be paying bills as if she was in a shared flat/house just maybe not quite as much.
