Vanquis Card Application

Hello

I applied for a vanquis card on the 28th of Feb and today received a phone call to confirm some information than he said he needs my bank account details to setup a direct debit without this my application may fail so i said ok.

I gave my sort code and my account number and he said "incorrect account number" than said "can you repeat it please" so i did and than he said "your application is locked i will call you back???"

I asked why it got locked he said he pressed delete and it got back and locked he said he will call me back within 24 hrs...

Has anyone came across to this situation when applying for a vanquis card before?

It's normal for them to call to verify your landline number is correct and then tell you you're approved if you pick up, but I've never witnessed, come across, or read about them asking for bank account details before as a condition of acceptance.

Perhaps you should call them back to make sure it was Vanquis and not a scammer? Keep an eye on the DDs set up on your bank a/c for a while, too

They tried ringing me loads 6-10 times a day when i applied. but it took them about 3 weeks to look at my application. by this point i didnt really want the CC so ignored em. 4 weeks later in the post got given a credit card :S

TBH customer service is pretty bad. I had my wallet stolen so cancelled the card and ordered a new one. recieved a letter 4 weeks later saying i was in arrears and needed to make minimum payment tried to do this but couldnt as didnt have the card 'with me' (hadnt been sent out/ ordered or cancelled!!) and then they tried to charge me because the payment was 7 days late.

Would try and avoid if possible!

I received one of the special invitations and posted this off on Thursday 24th Feb. Had a missed call on my mobile on Thursday 3rd March then the day after that had a text saying in order to complete your card application please reply to this message with the time you have lived at your address.

i called back the number they called me on and it was correct i was told my application was at another department and i should get a call back after couple of days so i shall wait and see )

LoL i agree but i just need this card to improve my credit rating and maybe get the cashplus card with the credit builder??

I am sure i will be declined as i have 2 defaults and 2 settled accounts:))

When you call the vanquis customer service its like calling the local pizza shop they dont sound professional at all.

I've had a vanquis card for a couple of years. I put the odd purchase on it and then paid it off straight away just to keep it active but I have now just gotten a "proper" credit card from my bank so I tried to cancel my Vanquis yesterday. The guy said a note would be put on my account and it would cancelled after next months statement has come out to make sure that any interest I owed is paid even though I have zero balance. He then asked me to confirm my phone number, when I said I wouldn't confirm it he said they needed to know it for future communications. I then told him I didn't want any future communications from them and he went a bit mental! I just hung up the phone in the end. I have now had repeated calls on both my mobile and landline from them. When they hook you they really do not want to let you go! Only take this card if you really really need it.

unfortunately i have a vanquis card and owe quite a bit of money on it but i am now in a position to pay well above minimum payment every month and its looking hopeful i can clear balance in a year or so, i try really hard not to use it, its tempting sometimes though but i ususally fight the urge!! i would never ever get a cash advance on it the interest is astronomical it's bad enough the interest i'm paying on what i owe.
if i could i would try to balance transfer it but don't think anybody else would give me a card previous bad debts which are all clear now except for this card plus self-employed which doesn't always help i've found?!
