Baby Annabel, Chou Chou etc... cheap....

Options
Well, it has happened and the prodigal daughter 'wants one of those' and while I contemplate whether I can stand another thing crying in the house (son, daughter, husband, cats and now a doll - at least I can chuck that out the window!) I have found this site with some special offers....

http://www.uktoybox.co.uk/specialoffers.php?PHPSESSID=1bda66e185b804a91db40f8ac04f89bc

The specials seems quite good but this is my first time looking for these. Are they all the same size wise and are these prices good? I have not even seen one but these prices seem OK compared to the RRP quoted. Hope the link works now. Are they a bad toy to get a 4 year old daughter who likes to cry and scream - A LOT? I am not so sure. Thanks.

  • i have just purchased baby born , for my 2 year old daughter for xmas. i bought it off ebay second hand with all the bits to go with it . looks brand new . paid 12.40 for it incuding postage . think it retails at about £40 pounds nomally.

i think theres a thread about a good deal for baby anabell on here for only 22 pounds no luck trying to find it . baby anabel is the same size as baby born .

have to agree must be mad to buy crying doll but there not that loud .
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

  • When I first started looking at the BA stuff the outfits were around £15. I can't believe it as that is more than you pay for an actual childs outfit - do people pay this sort of money or am I being tight? Do they have seasonal clothes or something that are 'in' and those that are old are not? And who cares?

I have a few more weeks to think about it really but my two make a lot of noise and another toy crying might just tip me over the edge, LOL. So, do the dolls take clothes from each other with them being the same size? Things were never this difficult with Barbie were they?

  • That wouldn't put me off to be honest, we only recently bought our email address on our site and I used our freeserve one before that and I run a professional business and am VAT registered so would hate to think people saying that about ours. My husband does all the technical side of it otherwise I'd be pretty much stuffed as I don't even know how to set it up and although we have our own website I only know basic stuff and there is no way I can afford to pay someone to do it - I have to pay for me email address that has the same bit on it as my website, maybe they can't afford to do that yet.

I thought the site looked OK though. Fair play to someone for starting their own business I say and we should be supporting that shouldn't we? I don't even look at those details - should I be if buying something? You can get your money back if you pay by card can't you? You can with Paypal.

As long as I get a bargain I don't really mind where it comes from to be honest!!
  • Anyway, back to the dolls question. Just which one is the best value for money from the 3 in regard to the functions and are there more out there that I should consider? They all can wear the same clothes can they? Sorry, but they all seem to do the same so just looking for some advice from those that already have these and I have nowhere local that sells them apart from hiking to TrU and I can't do without the tantrums just to get round to the doll section. Do the kids play with them a lot or will it get cast aside after a few hours? It's a lot of money if she gets bored with it. Thanks.

The main thing is that you can turn them off! My daughter was 3 when I bought her her Baby Annabell and I think she was too young for it then. She is 4 1/2 now and she is just getting "into" it properly now. I buy newborn size baby outfits when I see them - they are a lot cheaper.
I refused to buy the Baby Born because she actually poos her nappy- I couldn't be doing with the mess!

anyways as for the doll i have bought an annabelle and baby born doll this year for my girls, the baby born seems to do a little bit more, but in my opinion the annabelle one is better, its soft bodied so more cuddlier for little ones to take to bed :)

  • I just bought my little one a baby born, she does loads of things and doesn't use batteries. Also Baby Annabel has a feature where when she is sleeping she can wake up if you make a noise!!! I had visions of my little girl having to get up through the night with her (Revenge lol). Also the baby born I have wees but not poo's.
  • My little one has baby annabell. It has a battery switch on the back so you can switch it off at night time. I buy clothes from a shop on ebay called Hannahs Boutique I think. They are much nicer than the 'proper' baby A clothes, and at least half the price. My little girl has never noticed that they are not official baby A clothes - I dont think she knows there's such a thing anyway.
