Very strange problem with wireless

OK here goes. Current setup:-

Laptop = Acer Aspire 5810T
Router = Netgear WNDR3700
ISP = Virgin Media
OS = Windows 7 Home Premium

I work from home using a Citrix system to log onto work.
I also use an Omnix system for some work databases.
In addition, I use MSN Messenger to keep in touch with some colleagues.

At random times and at random intervals, I cannot get on the internet on my local machine. I also cannot log onto my wireless router during those times (I'm guessing it's because it's an http address to log in to the router). The only remedy seems to be a restart of the laptop.

However, during the time the "internet" is down, I can still use Citrix, Omnix and MSN Messenger.

I can also use the internet on other devices (a different laptop, kindle and phone) and log onto the router using the other laptop so I know it's not the router or the ISP.

Can anyone please help as it's getting frustrating.

Please!

Cheers

    Log into the router and set it so that your computer has a fixed IP address

    I should have mentioned that all of my devices have fixed IPs from the router.

    But what effect would that have? I can still use Omnix, Citrix and MSN Messenger which are internet based I just cannot go on the internet or log into the router's web interface? The laptop is still connected to the router and all other machines are working fine.

    It's only started happening over the past couple of weeks.

    Sounds like it may be a dns problem.
    There's no sense crying over every mistake.
    You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

    Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
    Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
    Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
    Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
    If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan

    reboot

    Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
    Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
    (do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
    If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

    Sounds like it may be a dns problem.

    How would this affect the single laptop and not any other device?

    Also, would it not affect all incoming/outgoing traffic?

    Don't mean to be pedantic, but you've not mentioned any other devices - you just mention:
    Laptop = Acer Aspire 5810T
    Router = Netgear WNDR3700
    ISP = Virgin Media
    OS = Windows 7 Home Premium

    You don't say you have other machines that are working faultlessly whilst your laptop grinds to a halt. You don't mention how any other machines are connected to the network.

    You mention static IP's. Are they all configured to use the same name servers?

    If it were me, my train of thought would go: When this outage happens, can I traceroute through to known good servers like google - if not where does it die? Can I get random name queries to work with something like nslookup ? Can I telnet the IP address of web servers and get a pulse?
