buyer wants me to send to work address

i sold something today that needs to be sent special delivery. buyer (150+ feedback) wants me to send to work address (same town) and listed this in the notes section of the paypal payment.

am i right in thinking i wont be protected unless i sent to the shipping address?

if so would i have to refund the payment and tell them to add the work address to their paypal account and pay again using their work address?

tia

Why not tell your buyer that the only way you will consider sending to a non registered paypal address would be if they pay you by bank transfer.

You will get the money just as quickly as with paypal, but you won't have any of the fees to pay.

Yes, get them to add the work address before repaying.

We often sell on ebay and we've never had an issue when sending an item to a work address-if it's signed for anyway, there's unlikely to be a problem.

The problem is that you are only covered if you send it to the address that paypal say is 'OK to send to'.

So sending something tracked to a different address would mean you would lose any claim for INR or fraudulent use of card claim.

It would be interesting to know how many people have gone through a charge back process. I've also sent many high value items to a different address, properly tracked, and never gone through one in six years.

It is easy to add a different delivery address - I have about 4 of them on my paypal account & just select the one I want it to go to. Having said that, as a seller, I would probably just send it to the work address!

I've had only two. One for a small value item, and I have no idea why a scammer would bother for a sub £3 item so I just told paypal to take the money and be done with it.

The second one was also a fraudulent use of a card claim and the buyer admitted trying it on to teach his adult son a lesson. I won that though as i had proof of posting showing it went to the buyers paypal address. I still had to fight paypal for it though as it was before the rule change that covered sellers with merely a proof of posting for a 'fraud' chargeback. I would have bene miffed to lose that one as it was around £30 with postage and went to a US address.
