Taking money from my credit card

I run a small business from home offering graphic design and web design services and use 123 reg as my hosting.
They have a system whereby they retain your credit card details and automatically deduct money from your credit card when domain / hosting expires.
I tried to stop one on the day it was due to expire / renew, but they took it anyway and refused to cancel the transaction as its under their tos. I tried to cancel my card details with them, but there is no way I can find to do this.
They send email warnings notifying that its due to expire, several months in advance, but these tend to start so far in advance that there are often end up in my junk mail, however, fingers bburnt I thought I better act more wquickly and unchecked the box that says renew automatically besides the two it is currently issuing warnings for.
One was due for renewal / expiry on Saturday 5th March, but I did not want them taking money out of my card (which is all but maxed out and I am struggling to keep up with it, especially as I have had large emergency vet bills to cover until the insurance pays out )
Today I was about to pay it after confirming with my customer that they still want it, only to find they have taken money from my card again, regardless of the check box.
Surely they cannot be allowed to just keep helping themselves without any means of stopping them? I am happy to renew when and as I want to, but I cannot afford to have money taken from me.

It's not entirely clear how many services they're providing you. You talk about "... besides the two it is currently issuing warnings for". The auto-renewal tick box that you unchecked might well relate to services in the future, or another service that you're paying for.
Of course, if you've removed your authority to renew automatically, they should honour that and not take payment. But without knowing what you pay for, when each service expires, when the emails were received and what service the checkbox was relating to, it's difficult to tell exactly what's happened. They might have acted perfectly legally; they might not."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Also, you need to give a few working days notice to cancel, so cancelling on the day, or even the day before, will not prevent the payment going out as the wheels are already in motionOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
