Just looking for some advice regarding our bill to us it seems a little high.
First thing we do realise is that it is costing us more by not paying via direct debit. But I dont know whats happened to the calling features, i called up a couple of months ago to cancel the premium rate number lock which we had in place from when we had dial up and got hijacked.
Just any advice would be great.

You are paying quarterly for line rental (£13.60/month) and the Unlimited Anytime calls plan (£5/month) - a total of £18.60/month or £55.80/quarter.
You are paying by a method other than Direct Debit and that accounts for the £1.80/month Payment Processing Fee - a total of £5.40/quarter.
Apart from inclusive 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 calls, you made 12 other calls at a cost of £6.30 in the quarter.
You have ONE Calling Feature* (£2.70/month) - a total of £8.10/quarter
* In most cases, such a £2.70 charge is for Caller Display - which should be free of charge IF you make at least 2 calls/month or 6 calls/quarter (you made 55 in the quarter).
Recommendations:
(1). Change to Monthly Whole Bill Direct Debit. to save yourself that £1.80/month Payment Processing Fee.
(2). Open a www.18185.co.uk account online and use 18185 for all your overseas and mobile calls. That should reduce that £6.30 non-inclusive calls charge.
(3). If you establish that the Calling Features charge is for Caller Display, challenge that £8.10 amount and get onto BT Privacy at Home with free Caller Display instead to save yourself that £2.70/month.
BTW, Premium Rate Call Barring is free of charge and is not even shown as a Calling Feature any more.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
1. as said thats what i already know looking at sorting that out.
2. thanks for the 18185 tip, most of this Charge was calling Sky so maybe should have looked for a better number.
3. Just had a quick look at the bill and it is indeed for caller display, just wondering where i stand regarding this then?
Thanks for the help soo far Heinz.0 -
In (1), the Monthly part is (IMHO) important too - stop lending BT money so far in advance.
There is usually at least one 0800 or 0808 number available for BSkyB in THIS THREAD on saynoto0870.com
Phone BT and complain about being charged. They will probably suggest you change the the free version I mentioned but, if they dont, you can! It'd be nice to get the £8.10 refunded but that'd be a bonus really.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
