I had a letter from eon demanding payment for a bill i didnt run up ( a tenant of our property did).
The letter said I had ignored requests to pay (haven't,bill not mine,no demands received).
I phoned, asked them to call me back, they said they couldnt. three quarters of an hour hanging on,half an admission the bill wasnt mine-another admission extracted that they do have the previous tenants details, asked a supervisor to call me back to give me details so I could send a recorded delivery letter stating I don't owe money.Supervisor didnt call back, now waiting this am for a caLL.

does anyone have an address or phone number so I can resolve this before they turn this over to a debt collector?

Did the tenant advise Eon of the date they were moving out, a forwarding address and the meter reading on that date and did you get a copy? From that date/reading you would be liable.

If they failed to notify Eon of date/reading/address then they will chase via the only address they have, namely yours.

    Hi hollydays,

When you speak to E.ON you can ask for the account to be put on hold while you send/fax the tenancy agreement in, this will enable them to close the tenants account using the dates they moved out of the property.

spiro has already asked the question, did the tenants take/provide final meter readings? and a forwarding address? advise E.ON they were moving out?

If they haven't taken the readings from when they moved out the account will be closed to estimated meter readings.

If the property was empty or is still empty since the tenants moved out, the account will go in to the name of the person responsible for the property.

I would advise to ensure E.ON know when a new tenant moves in along with accurate meter readings.

    Helena :)

hi-thanks i have spoken to eon now.It appears there has been some mix up over moving in dates, which can be fixed by me by a few phone calls, there is no dispute as such..If the adviser had told me this on friday,I would have had it sorted by now.Yes the old tenants gave their new address, and they had the name of the new tenant. The property was taken over by the new tenant the same day.

It transpires eon have got the date the tenant gave his reading confused with the date he moved in.Hopefully that is the end of it,but I would like to send an email today so i have put something in writing.

    Hi hollydays,

You can send an email using the 'contact us' page on the E.ON website.

It will be picked up and a customer service rep will respond.

Pretty poor show when a company is threatening " We are disappointed that despite our formal requests for payment you have failed to clear the balance on your account" "..Unless the above amount is paid in full within the next 7 days,we intend to pass your account to an External Debt Collection Agency", when I have been sent NO other correspondance.

Plus, wont ring me back,AND Supervisor didnt call me back, despite my request.

    Appalling Customer Service-dreadful accounts procedures!
I have wasted valuable time on Friday evening on the phone, when I was busy doing something else, and your company have stressed me AND embarrassed my tenant-who owed no money either.

I the adviser talked so rapidly I couldnt understand him,and hardly get a word in,so asked for a supervisor to call me on my mobile.
