I don't know about CC's, and I don't know about other Banks, but Lloyds has an increasing list of companies whose bills you can pay from your bank account (not DD) - Maybe their CC might also allow you to do this, I don't know.

personally, we have set up a joint account with Lloyds for Bill payments, etc.. I am in the process of moving everything over from Santander - just waiting for my first lot of wages to be paid in.

Basically, we now have a joint account with Lloyds, where my wages will be paid in to (in excess of £280, weekly) - I am going to transfer £250 to my sole account (standing order) and then put back the money needed to cover bills. Both accounts are going to be "Plus" accounts - and hopefully (but I doubt it) the joint account will eventually go Vantage.

The debit card for the joint account are locked away for emergency use only - so I can only spend on my sole account.

This just sets up a BACS transfer to the collection account of the company involved. If you look at the back of your bill, it will usually give you a sort code and account number that you can send it to. LTSB, and some other banks, keep a list of these details so that you can select by company name rather than typing in the account number.

Other than this initial step, however, it works in exactly the same way as a normal BACS transfer. A key point is that you can't do BACS transfers from credit cards, so it won't work with them.
