2 credit card applications within 10 mins of each other?????

Hi, want a nectar card so applied for Amex and sainsbury cards.

Amex say they couldn't give me an instant decision and need to do a few more checks. Sainsbury say we are processing you application and once approved we will send the paperwork for you to sign.

Does this sound like a decline?

The sainsbury card says the criteria is no rejections within the last month, will they count the Amex card as a rejection because I didn't get instant approval ? Or would they not know about each others searches yet because they are so close together? Is it likely I didn't get approval because it was 10pm on a Sunday ?

So how bad is 2 credit applications on your credit score? Will it bring it down or affect a landlord search I am getting in a few weeks ? What will that check for?

Anyone know what credit agency Amex and sainsbury use ? I am 999 score with experian and it says better than 71% of the uk.

Wonder what the extra checks on Amex could be, I didn't miss anything off the form, are Amex a tough credit scorer?

Cheers

How would Sainsburys know you had a rejection (even if you had) - they only show up as searches not as approved or rejected?

First of all what credit cards do you have at the moment and what are your balances and credit limits?
Also you have a credit score with Experian of 999 which don't take one bit of notice of that as they don't lend money, also Sainsburys and Amex will both credit score you themselves as they don't care what score Experian gave you.

As another money saver said, credit report searches don't include the outcome of the application, so they won't know if your other application was accepted, declined or referred.

Try to space out your credit applications where you can. Applying for several things at the same time or close together could in some situations affect your credit scoring.

True, but a lender could determine that if a search has been carried out and there is no open account from that search, could potentially show it was a decline from that lender..
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
