American Express 5% is this for real or a con

Would be great if anyone could shed light on this. We have been with American Express for a while (pay off at each of end month). They wrote to us and told us that if we chose vouchers (e.g. Comet) rather than cash back (real money) then we would get 5% of our cash back as vouchers (as opposed to 1.5%). This sounded like a good deal and so we signed up online

However - the wording is unclear, customer services are useless (have tried calling several times)

And now I am unsure what the actual promo is - has anyone else experienced this?

The wording is pretty clear. You get 5% extra if you choose vouchers rather than cash. So you would get 105% of your cashback value in vouchers at the end of year.
