ive bought tonnes of bargains on goofbay, in all honesty i think too many people are onto the miss spelt bargains thats why i use goofbays not in title search (which not many people know about) basically say someones selling a laser printer and hasnt put laser printer in the title it finds those. they are by far the best bargains to find as no one spots them. for example i bought this laser printer which i found using it for £14.50: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320030539679 then sold it straight away for £85.00: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250040084482
im not usually in the habit of buying stuff to sell straight away on ebay but this was too good a bargain to miss. i was going to keep it but i bagged a samsung ml2550 which i liked better0 -
In my experience you rarely save any considerable money searching for typos.
It would only take two people to find the item to bid it up to its value and some people just search by category anyway.0 -
hmm i agree and disagree, it depends. you can still find bargains but you have to be smart with what you look for. because of the publicity of fatfingers and the amount of people using it i agree often a few people will find the bargain you've found too but its still alot less than that would have found it if it had been spelt right. Miss-spelt item deffo get about a quarter of the visitors if not less than a standard listing gets so you still get less bidders.
not many people (strangely) use the not in title search on goofbay (well not from my experience) anything ive ever spotted using that and wanted ive won. if the not in title was used as much as fatfingers is for miss-spellings then yeh these bargains would be few and far between but as it stands im bagging loads of bargains and not many others seem to be beating me to them!
ive just bought an xbox so ive been using it to buy xbox games where people havent put xbox in the title and its working a treat! the average price im paying for a the game is around £1 a game (plus postage). These are games that retail at £20-£40 and even if you took them to a boot sale you would get at least £5 per game (traders at boot sales have them for £8 - £20 a game - ive paid £1 each for them using the not in title tool!) take a look:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170045213732
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170043423585
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170043418895
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220044832080
one thing that deffo does help tho is sniping them too. i use auction sniper to snipe my auctions aswell which deffo helps as there is no point bidding up auctions early or getting into bidding wars when you can simply watch it and snipe last minute0 -
Sorry to sound dumb but do you use the "not in title" when you know exactly what yuor looking for or for bargains in general. Im having trouble seeing how general bargain hunting would work that way.0
