don't you have to pay the online check in fee of £12 per person each way that they add on at the last moment before you complete booking??

The £6 check in fee isn't added at the last moment before booking. The check in fee is added on the screen where you select your flights in the sub total box. The only fee that is added at the end of the booking is the credit card charges which can be avoided with the prepay mastercard: as much as I think some of the charges on Ryanair are petty I tend to only concern myself with the final charge regardless of how they make up the fee :-)
