Thanks to all for your replies.
He tried phoning the essex insurer. The deal is £1508 for any car! He asked if it would cost the same if he got an Audi 2l DT A3 and they said yes! Is it too good to be true? Can't find very much online evidence for this company is there a way we can check if its legit. All jnt's posts appear to be promoting this service... Also, can hotsavers recommendation be trusted? He/she doesn't have any other posts
He will try all the other recommendations as well,
Thanks for all the guidance especially around the fronting issues.0 -

You need to see the cover and pay particular attention to the excess, the types of deals I have seen with a set price before have a £1500 excess which you pay for any type of claim including if just the third party claims off you.
A Plan are a genuine broker although they do have a reputation for being sharp0 -
i've been insured with a-plan for years on specailist off road insurance and they are superb. and when i had a bump ( i drove into a petrol pump
) the claim was quick and very very painless. 0 -
A plan are the broker not the insurer. As DAC states you need to see full details of the policy terms and conditions which are likely to be complex.
Be aware of the excess clause that may apply to third party claims - this means that if there is a claim against the boyfriend he will have to pay this and the insurers are likely to be aggressive in their pursuit against him for the money.
If the cover is third party only there will be no cover for his own vehicle - saving money on the insurance just to get him on the roads could lead to a huge cost later on, meaning that he would lose his car if he couldn't pay for the repairs himself.
Not trying to scare monger - just trying to make you aware that if its cheap there is a reason.0
