I didn't realize what a contentious topic this would be :-) but good to hear peoples ideas, I phrase that springs to mind is 'what get measured, get manipulated' and I think there is merit in all the ideas. And we shall see how long PRPM lasts.

I was talking with a French co-worker and when growing up she didn't have pocket money as there as no choice in studying, but when she could leave school her parents paid for lots on the understanding that when she stop studying they stopped paying :-) as they wanted her to go to Uni.

So what do the people that find PRPM (pref related pocket £) abhorrent suggest I say/argue when my 6/8yrs olds say 'it's not fair' I have to xyz, have a debate each time or say fine you don't have to do xyz but dont expect abc (pudding/pockect money/TV/etc)?

    Kind regards

you could just say "ah but lifes not fair" - my DD gets so fed up with me saying that ;).
