Moving Email folder from BT Yahoo! to desktop

Hello -

I'm not very good technically and I keep getting stuck. I have managed to drag all the BT Yahoo emails from Inbox and Sent items to a folder I have named to keep them in.

I hoped to drag this folder to my desktop - but can't. The only other options I can find are to delete. Does anyone know how I can transfer this folder to my desktop so that I can look at them off line - or just to transfer the folder to a Memory Card. I would have no idea how to back anything up and this, to me, if it could be done would be a really good compromise. I have a 1 GB Memory Card ready to use.

Thank you

Crimson

Do you have Microsoft Outlook or any other email software?

If not, a good first step would be to download and install Thunderbird and set up your emails in that using the BT Yahoo guidelines.

As BT Yahoo do not offer the more advanced IMAP rather than POP3 (as far as I can see) this may delete all of your emails from webmail. On the plus side, they will be then saved on your PC rather than the email server.

Not quite, in your Thunderbird email account, select Tools> Account Settings then click on Server Settings then check Automatically download new messages this means that the emails are copied to your hard drive.
Now check Leave messages on server then enter the For at most number of days (I use 31) this means the messages are kept on the server for a month.
Also checking Until I delete them lets you manually delete messages from Thunderbird.

This lets you read emails in both Thunderbird and BT Yahoo

    Similar for Outlook Express
