Craphone warehouse

Please can any one help me as I'm a money tips virgin and have been reduced to tearsby the truley awful service I've recieved at carphone warehouse. I know it is probably too late to do anything now but I really cant afford to throw £90 away. Basically bought my son pay as you go sony erricson fron cpw in march and after a few weeks screen started freezing, prized it from him took it back, sent for repair, came back left shop days later son tells me it has old and new fault, take it back, repaired again, days later old faults are back.
I take it back and kick up a fuss, kind salesman says that he'll list all the faults so that this time its unrepairable, sent for repair.
go back on thurs and .......its unrepairable....Hurrah!!!
Actually not a good thing as they wont repair or replace it or refund me!
What can I do nxt?
emailed them thurs got back standard letter today saying not going to do anything, is it worth fighting on or sould I just give up?

Keep fighting, the law is on your side. Write a letter to head office stating that you are disappointed with the phone and level of service received so far. Take a look at http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/calitem.cgi?file=ADV0043-1011.txt - it outlines your rights when buying goods.
  • thanx darksun, i will keep trying!!!!!!!!!!!

what are the faults? why did they say it was unrepairable? a repair centre will only fix warrenty problems not anything like customer damage eg cracked screen liquid contamination etc. A repair centre will not lie about wether it's a warrenty fault as they only actually get paid by the manufacturer if they do any repairs, not just for looking at it. If it's a warrenty fault that they can't fix they will exchange. Are you sure carphone sent it away? if you want me to check for you just pm me and i'll do what i can to help.
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • Thanx elljay20, the printed letter that came back with the phone says it has 'moisture damage' and is unrepairable. This was never given as the fault the previous times it had been back in for repair so I was abit suspicious. I assume that it was sent away but they did say that sometimes they can be repaired on the premises so maybe it didnt go anywhere but sat in Aintree for a week!! There has never been any mention of an exchange in all my many visits there, think I am justed annoyed because no-one there seemed bothered or tried to explain anything to me and I think it should just have been replaced the first time it was faulty. Thanx for letting me rant some more!!

ok, a repair company i suspect it may have been fone logistics scan the handset to check for liquid damage and will not lie about it being liquid damaged as i previousley said as they won't have been paid for looking at it. i have seen this countless times when kids use there phones in the rain and daren't tell their parents etc! i have even had a disabled person with water damage round the mouth piece as he'd dribbiled on the phone!
is it possible that your son could have got the phone wet and not realise/tell you? the other thing is if it was sent away the first time and came back as repaired could the moisture damage have happened at carphone? the second time? do you have paperwork from the first time it went away? if you want any help sorting through what happend just pm me

  • thanx again, I wouldnt be surprised if my son had used it in the rain but i was more annoyed that this was never quoted as the original fault and they have messed me around for 6 months with trips back and forth. I'm going to write a letter to the head office with copies of all the paperwork, pointing out that they've had the phone for nearly as long as my son and so could have caused the damage!! thought it was worth a try as my sons street credit has gone now he's carrying round my old brick-like phone. Had to laugh at the water damage by dribbling!
