personal item insurance help!

I would like to know who I can get personal possession insurance from?

I currently have contense insurance in my flat, but as it is furnished and all items in it are covered by my landlord who lives next door, I think paying out nearly £6 a month is a bit much. I have been doing this with no claim for 3 years, the price goes up every time I renew my policy, I'm currently under Endsleigh! I literally want to insure my phone, laptop and camera. I don't own anything else expensive.

When trying to search for item insurance it leads me to full contense insurance. I don't want this. Any ideas? Many thanks :)

The administration cost of setting up a policy, issuing documents to you means that i doubt you will find an insurer who can insure you for less than £6 a month.

    Good luck though finding one.

You can still get reasonable cashback from some insurers just for getting "full" contents cover. (ie not combined with buildings cover)

eg TCB has RAC with £70.70 cashback.
  • thanks how do you mean full cash back???? Sorry not really up on all this insurance stuff.

Also surely my cover should cost less each time i renew if i have not made a claim? How come mine goes up?

You could self insure. Instead of paying £6 a month to the insurance people put it in a savings account. If your stuff gets stolen or destroyed before you have enough to replace it (remembering that it will be worth less as it ages) then you have to cover the difference, or get a cheaper replacement. If you don't need to 'claim' you reap the rewards at the end.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Using that logic in a few years they'd be paying you for the insurance.
It goes up as a) they want to make profit and b) more and more people are making claims
