So I've just got my new Acer laptop and there is no \ icon on the keys......or at least the \ that is there gives me # and ~ symbols
How do I go about finding the character & assigning it to a key stroke?

Check if there is a £ over the 3 - if so you have a UK keyboard but the software is set to something else - probably US. You need to set the type to whatever keyboard you actually have..

Go to Control Panel, click 'Region & Language' click on the 'Keyboards and languages' tab then click change keyboards. The installed services should be EN English United Kingdom, if it isn't then click ADD and find the English, UK option and Add it. You will then need to Remove the US one and make sure the EN one is applied.

also, although not so important, the @ which shows as over the 2 is in fact on the ' " key........I can live with that0

Then it'll probably be a US keyboard. Try changing it to US and see if that helps.!!!!!!_Turpin99 wrote: »I just looked and it is on the EN United Kingdom version:footie:
