Chicken on the bone?
Comments
-
Thanks everyone i did the legs today and got loads of meat off just 2 of them (they were quite big) so got the other 2 in the fridge for tomorrow nights tea (egg fried rice with chicken and veg) so im fairly impressed - think ill buy a big chicken next time and give it a go - think that my knives are rubbish for cutting tho so fingers it is! DH is fine with meat but wont touch a bone lol he never bites meat off the bone and wont scrape it off himself never really asked him why he has just always been like this! but i dont mind taking it off before serving - in a restaurant he wouldnt order anything with meat on the bone - like ribs or anything like that but at a friends house he very poiltly cut the meat away fron the bone but there was still loads on as he wasnt going anywhere near the bone he kind of skimmed the edges lol - does no one else do this? i know a few people who eat meat but wont touch a bone or a anything like that!

My partner is exactly the same. He won't eat chicken off the bone. He won't eat chicken skin either. Luckily I love chicken legs and skin, so I'm glad I get them all and he gets the samey old white bits. He looks at me like I am eating concrete or a fencepost when I eat chicken skin like it is an unknown foodstuff.
I don't mind scraping it off the bone to humour him if that small job brings him some male happiness. He hates the smell/look/texture of tea too but makes it for me often enough so I will cheerfully (and needlessly) scrape chicken off the bone. :rotfl:
I think some people just struggle with the fact it looks more like an animal if it is on the bone. My partner is very pro animal welfare (so am I, but I just don't have an issue with bones, however I hate wasting any meat) so I wonder if it is a bit of a mental block.
Each to one's own I guess. If I get a lovely partner on the proviso that I have to scrape meat from bones forever that is a very fair trade. :T0
