Hi,
I am after something that I can record programs from the telly (Sky progs too) with. I don't want to keep them its just for catching up with my viewing when its more convenient.
I have Sky - 1 box in 1 room, have a magic eye link to our other telly.
I dont fancy Sky+ due to continued monthly payments.
So is it best to get a Freeview box with HDD or a DVD Recorder. I think I'm right in saying that most dvd recorders have a certain amount of memory that doesn't require a disc??
My main aerial is not suitable for Freeview - is there a way that I could link a Freeview box into my Sky so I have both options??
Sorry final query - can you watch different channels to one being recorded??
Many thanks all

Nope. Freeview can't be picked up by the Sky satellite dish.
You could try something like this or this hooked up to your Sky box with a SCART cable, but that'll only record on hard-disk what you are currently watching on Sky. But if you do want to keep something, you can burn it to DVD.
To be honest you'd be better off forking out for Sky+ if there is no way you can get Freeview and get the benefit of a built-in EPG and the ability to record one Sky channel and watch another.0 -
thanks for the advice.
Think my best option is to go for a recordbale DVD - do any allow you to watch another channel from Sky or is this exclusive to Sky+
Its just the cost each month - I just cant justify it. I have the full package and extra money is not an option.
thanks though.0 -
Hi,
I have the sportworld - all the sports channels and all the other usual stuff, no movies though.
Is it free to use thereafter then?0 -
Basically you have to pay a £10 sky + fee to use sky plus - but if you subscribe to a premium package (ie sports or movies) there is no extra charge to use the sky+.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0
