Statutory Sick Pay - Who funds it?

I will be off work for a few weeks soon following an operation.
I know I will be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay and this should get paid by my employer via my normal wages channel.
However I was wondering whether the money actually comes from my employer's own funds or does my employer claim it back from the Government?
Anyone know?

It depends on how much Class 1 NICS your employer pays on behalf of employees and how much is paid out in SSP
Here is the link for employers to work out recovery
