After visiting a site on my laptop this morning, it looks like my computer has picked up a virus or a scam. It will not let me access any files or sites until i start their scan to get rid of (according to them) a huge amount of viruses that my computer has picked up. To do this i have to pay $x. Obviously im not going to do this but i cant access any of my own antivirus (avg) or spybot that is installed. What do i do? Please help, im not techie!!

Please post whatever the exact name of it is (probably 'system tools 2011?')
reboot
Keep pressing F8 to get into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
reboot into NORMAL mode
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)
if safe mode with networking doesnt work then -
run FixExe.reg (to allow malwarebytes etc to run). After clicking YES it will be fixed (Nothing will visually happen)

Try malwarebytes sgain
and if that doesnt work run RKILL (several download locations due to different nasties blocking it) -

Have a look at this

If you clear it with the registration key, then do the Malwarebytes scan.0
